    A Wetland Awareness Workshop was conducted on 06.03.2026 at H.H. Raja’s College, Pudukkottai, with the participation of the District Forest Officer, Pudukkottai Forest Range officials, NGO representatives, the Principal of the Agricultural College, a Professor from the Medical College, and the Green Fellow. The dignitaries addressed the students on the importance of wetlands, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable environmental practices. The workshop included interactive sessions, student participation, prize distribution to best-performing students, administration of a wetland conservation pledge, and presentation of Community Participation Awards to NGOs for their contribution to wetland conservation.

    World Wetlands Day was celebrated on 02.02.2026 at H.H. Raja’s College, Pudukkottai, with the active participation of around 400 students from schools and colleges, along with professors, teachers, drawing masters, the District Environment Coordinator and Forest Department officials. The programme included an awareness rally, painting competition, essay writing competition and speech competition to create awareness on the importance of wetlands and their conservation. Participation certificates were distributed to the participants by the District Forest Officer, Principal of H.H. Raja’s College and the Chief Education Officer, Pudukkottai. The event successfully sensitized students on wetland conservation and the ecological significance of wetlands.

    A One-Day Capacity Building Programme on eliminating single-use plastics and promoting sustainable environment was conducted at Kodiyakarai Beach, Manamelkudi, Pudukkottai District under EIACP PC Hub. The programme included a beach clean-up drive and awareness session on marine pollution, plastic waste management, and dugong conservation. Around 80 students from Government Arts and Science College, along with Forest Department officials, BDO staff, sanitation workers and EIACP team member participated in the programme. Waste was collected and segregated, and participants were sensitized on the importance of coastal ecosystem conservation and sustainable environmental practices.
