    Under the guidance of Tamil Nadu State Wetland Authority, a District Level Brainstorming workshop was organized on 25.02.2026 at Theni District involving members of District Level Wetland Management Committee (DLWMC), Line Departments, Students, NGOs etc., All the arrangements for the workshop was carried out by Forest Range officer, Periyakulam VSC range and Green Fellow under the direction of District Forest Officer. The workshop began at 2:30 PM. Assistant Conservator of Forests, Theni Division began by welcoming all the participants and resource persons for the event. Followed by the welcome address Assistant Conservator of Forests, Megamalai Division and District Revenue Officer gave the special address. Representatives from Line departments like Pollution Control Board, Town Panchayat, Survey and Land Records, Water Resources Department, Revenue, Student Community, NGOs were present at the event. The brainstorming session was engaged by Mr.Prasanth and Dr. Dominic Marshal, Subject matter experts from Tamil Nadu Wetland Authority. They mentioned that Theni district has achieved its target by ground truthing 174 Wetlands and completing boundary delineation of all the wetlands. They also specified how to plan at a district level for wetland conservation and tackling major threats to wetlands. Strengthening wetland Mitras networks and Volunteer monitoring system was also encouraged. The experts had active discussion with students to know their understanding about wetlands and they specified how each line department can contribute in conservation of wetland. The entire session was enlightening. Forest Range officer, Periyakulam VSC range delivered the vote of thanks. The entire event was hosted by Green Fellow. Kits were distributed to all the participants containing a jute bag with steel water bottle, Notepad and a pen. Momento and Honororium was given to the resource persons and District Officials. Refreshments were arranged to all the participants. A special cash prize was given to one participant for active participation throughout the session.
