Subject: Request for Restoration of Wetland and Action Against Alteration Attempt - Survey No. 53, Thirumalai Agaram VillageDear Sir or Madam,I am writing to request your urgent intervention in protecting and restoring a wetland located in Thirumalai Agaram village, Tamil Nadu. The wetland in question is identified by survey number 53.Issue:It has come to my attention that the natural flow of water from the welling lake to the wetland has been disrupted. This disruption is severely impacting the wetland's health and its ability to perform its ecological functions. Additionally, there have been attempts to alter the wetland itself, which is a cause for great concern.Furthermore, the dry spell that occurred between 2014 and 2022 significantly affected groundwater levels in the area. Restoring the wetland to its full capacity will play a crucial role in mitigating future issues due to dry spells.Request:I kindly request your department to take immediate action to: * Restore the natural flow of water from the welling lake into the wetland by repairing channels. * Investigate any attempts to alter the wetland and take necessary legal action against those responsible.Importance of Wetlands:Wetlands play a crucial role in our ecosystem, providing habitat for diverse species, filtering pollutants from water, and mitigating floods. Protecting and restoring this wetland is vital for maintaining the ecological health of the area, especially in the face of recurring dry spells.Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.
