    Eco Society India in collaboration with Agaramthen Panchayat, St Thomas Mount Union, Tamilnadu State, with active support from GIZ India and Tamil Nadu State Wetland Authority planted over 300 tree saplings in Agaramthen Village in an effort to restore the degraded landscapes South of Chennai. Invasives were eradicated and suitable local native trees were planted around the Lake. The event was inaugurated by Thiru C.K Jagadeeswaran, Village President, Agaramthen Pachayat. Thiru M.Aravindan, Vice President, Agaramthen Pachayat and Ward Members actively planted the saplings. The event saw participation of over 300 volunteers from the village, Student volunteers from Prince Shri Venkateswara Arts and Science College, Gowrivakkam and IT professionals in Chennai. We extend our heartfelt thanks to one and all for making this event possible. As we celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay2024 with a focus on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, we are calling for all like minded organisations and individuals to support our globally beneficial cause and help us in the protection and revival of ecosystems of our country, which is critical to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Eco Society India Organised an Eco walk for 40 Students from Womens Christian College to understand the importance and significance of conserving and protecting our wetland ecosystems. The students received hands experience in identifying various flora from Prof. Sherin who accompanied the students. The students explored the wetlands and collected plant specimens, for their assignments and for further studies.
